Abstract: The Amazon is home to a vast diversity of plants, including medicinal species. Among them, Vismia guianensis, known as “seal”, stands out. This Plant has latex with antimicrobial and antifungal properties, being popularly used to treat wounds and skin conditions. The Clusiaceae family, to which it belongs, is also relevant in traditional Brazilian medicine. Despite this, the herbal medicine market is still small in the country, and studies are essential to develop new medicines from these plants. The objective of this study is to obtain an extract from the species and see what is found to detect the main classes of secondary metabolites; analyze the correlation of the classes of metabolites detected with the biological activities described in the literature and the popular use of the species; evaluate in vitro antimicrobial activity of V. guianensis against strains of (Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococus faecalis, Enterococus faecium). Methodology: The plant material was collected in the reserve of the Médio Solimões Research Support Center - CAP-MEDSOL. (location by GPS, S 04º07’23.08” W 063º04’24.21” Elevation 155, E 2) in the municipality of Coari/Am, the leaves and branches of the species that were subjected to drying in an oven and then crushed until the formation of fine powder in a four-blade mill. To extract the plant material of the species, crushed leaves and twigs were used, where the species of V. guianensis had a triplicate of each of the samples, totaling 6 extractions that will be used for chemical characterization and analysis of antimicrobial activity in vitro.
