Levantamento sobre uso de álcool e outras drogas entre estudantes universitários do curso de saúde do Instituto de Saúde e Biotecnologia de Coari: um estudo transversal

Abstract

The use of psychoactive substances, licit or illicit are configured as a worldwide public health problem and pointed as high prevalence of consumption among university students. The objective was to describe the prevalence of alcohol and other drug use among the students of the Federal University of Amazonas, located in Coari-AM. This is a cross-sectional study conducted with students from of nursing, medicine, physiotherapy and nutrition.The sample was random and proportional to the number of students enrolled by class. The self-administered questionnaire consisted of an adapted version of the instrument used by the Ministry of Health research. After submission and approval of the research in ethics committee - CAAE: 70831917.0.0000.5020, the collection occurred. The data indicated that 78.1% of the students have tried some kind of alcohol and of these, 33.1% say they have a frequency of drinking once a month or less. A percentage of 21.8% of students noticed an increase in alcohol consumption since entering university. Regarding tobacco and derivatives, 21.2% of students have tried at least once in their lives. There was a high prevalence of alcohol and other drugs among students of the Institute of Health and Biotechnology (ISB) - UFAM.
