Uma análise Histórico-Crítica sobre Monteiro Lobato: construindo narrativas antirracistas

Abstract

This research aims to present the different perspectives of researchers on the representation of black characters in the works of Monteiro Lobato, and to show how Lobato's works, although recognized for their literary value, present stereotyped representations and terms that need to be contextualized and approached critically in the educational context. The sources were collected from the following databases: Google Scholar, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, and the CAPES Journal Portal. The selection of sources followed specific criteria, and their analysis was guided by a script of guiding questions. The results of the research highlight the importance of historically contextualizing these works in the Brazilian scenario of the early 20th century, as well as promoting a critical reading, with the aim of contributing to an anti-racist education.
