Região metropolitana de Manaus (RMM): um estudo sobre a participação dos trezes municípios no Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) do estado do Amazonas, período de 2012-2020

Abstract

This study sought to analyze the participation of the Gross Domestic Product of the Municipalities (GDP) of the Metropolitan Region of Manaus (RMM) in the GDP results of the State of Amazonas between 2012 and 2020. Established in 2009, the RMM was designed to integrate regional development and strengthen the economy. The theoretical-methodological approach of the Applied Social Sciences was adopted, with the specific field of Economic Sciences. The study was guided by the perspective of mixed, quantitative and descriptive approaches, using secondary data from sources such as SEDECTI and IBGE, the research explores the main municipalities of the RMM and important sectors for the region. The research reveals that there is a significant dependence of the municipalities of the RMM on the centralized industrial activity of the metropolitan capital, Manaus, as well as the diversification of economic sectors. However, the economic dependence of the municipalities of the RMM on the industrial sector brings challenges for the integration of the regional economy, limiting the growth of the economy of the Metropolitan Region of Amazonas.
