Processos de estudos e performance das ilusões rítmicas e modulações métricas

Abstract

In this work, we aim to find ways to begin the study and performance of Rhythmic Illusions and metric modulations in a concise and interesting way. For this, we based this research on the work and material produced by drummers and percussionists involved with these themes, such as: Gavin Harrison, Kiko Freitas, Alexandre Damasceno, Brian Blade, Edu Ribeiro, Tarcísio Braga, James Romig, Grupo UAKTI, among others. As research material, we used methods produced by some of these drummers, performance analysis, repertoire, workshops and interviews. Putting all this material together, we realize that there is not much difference among the studies of rhythmic illusions and metric modulations, both are based on the same temporal concepts of music, such as: time, pulse, tempo, quantization. Having these concepts clear, it is possible to study, analyze and perform the repertoire that involves these themes efficiently.
