Estratégias de incentivo à leitura em bibliotecas escolares: um estudo no município de Coari, Amazonas

Abstract

This article analyzes an activity to encourage reading developed at the Francisca Evangelista da Silva State School, located in the city of Coari-AM, with classes in Elementary School I. The research, of a basic, exploratory, and qualitative nature, aimed to understand the strategies, methods and plans adopted by teachers and pedagogues to promote reading among students. The methodology included observations, application of questionnaires and analysis of the school library collection. It was found that practices such as reading circles, storytelling and thematic projects arouse the interest of children and contribute to their critical and cultural development. Despite the commitment of the teaching team, limitations were identified such as the absence of librarians and the lack of updated materials. It is concluded that the library, when integrated with the teaching work, can become a dynamic space for learning and developing the reading habit from the early years.
