Abstract

The mandatory supervised internship for the Animal Science program at the Institute of Social Sciences, Education and Animal Science of the Federal University of Amazonas was carried out from August 11 to November 21, 2025, totaling 300 hours, within the Amazonas Leite Extension Program: Producing Milk with Sustainability, with activities conducted at the Macurany Private Property, located in the municipality of Parintins-AM, through the Amazonas Leite Extension Program linked to the Biotechnology Laboratory of ICSEZ/UFAM. The objective was to provide practical experience in the daily routine of regional dairy cattle farming, integrating theoretical knowledge with technical, management, and rural extension activities. During the internship, activities were carried out such as feed management, mechanical milking, milk control, monitoring vaccinations and animal identification, cleaning of facilities and equipment, monitoring neonatal care, and assisting in the production of dairy products. The experience enabled the strengthening of professional competencies, the development of critical thinking, and an understanding of the challenges faced in regional dairy farming. Interaction between the farmer and the intern facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experiences, improving communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Thus, the internship contributed significantly to professional development.
