Inteligência artificial e consciência humana: uma análise da dualidade mente-cérebro na contemporaneidade digital

Abstract

In this article, I briefly present the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as some of its applications and uses from its inception to the present day. I raise questions about the possible existence of “artificial thinking” by comparing it to the functioning of the human mind. To this end, I briefly present research on the functioning of Neural Networks (biological and artificial). I discuss the test created by mathematician Alan Turing to verify whether (or establish criteria for) machines possess some form of intelligence if they pass his test. In contrast to Turing, I present philosopher David Chalmers' theory on conscious experience and how this theory presents a significant problem for “intelligent” machines. Finally, I analyze the influence of AI in terms of “advancement” and “setback,” giving real- life examples of machines programmed with AI. Thus, the first part of the article will deal with more technical issues involving the concept of AI, while the rest of the article investigates the concept in light of philosophy itself.
