Crenças dos alunos do curso de Licenciatura em Letras-Libras do PARFOR Equidade/UFAM – polo Parintins-AM

Abstract

This research has the general objective of investigating how the beliefs of students in the Undergraduate Course in Languages-Libras of Parfor Equidade/UFAM – Parintins-AM center influence their academic training, their perception of Libras, and their future teaching practice, and the specific objectives are: to identify the main beliefs of students regarding the Undergraduate Course in Languages-Libras in the context of their training in Parfor Equidade; to reflect on how the personal and collective beliefs of students impact their learning and their view on the teaching of Libras. The theoretical framework is based on Barcelos (1995; 2001; 2004; 2005; 2006; 2007) regarding studies on beliefs, on the regulations of Parfor (Brazil; 2009, 2016; 2019, 2023), Quintino (2023), and on Viegas' contributions (2024) regarding research on Parfor Equidade. The study is anchored in the qualitative approach (Denzin; Lincoln, 2006) and, regarding methodology, a case study was adopted (Paiva, 2019). The context is the Letters-Libras Course at UFAM, Parintins-AM campus, and the participants are five students from this course. The data generation instruments are profile questionnaires, investigative questionnaires, and a discussion circle. The data analysis was conducted through content analysis (Bardin, 2016). The research results indicate that the beliefs of the Letters-Libras students, initially marked by insecurities, were redefined throughout the training. It is expected that this work will contribute to critical reflections and to the improvement of educational practices aimed at the training process of Libras teachers, based on the beliefs built throughout the training.
