Resumo
Esta revisão integrativa teve como objetivo investigar as evidências disponíveis na literatura sobre a contribuição do fortalecimento do assoalho pélvico na prevenção da incontinência urinária no climatério. A revisão foi realizada nas bases de dados Web Of Science, EMBASE e MEDLINE por meio da Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde, indexados no período de 2018 a 2023. Foram incluídos na revisão 4 artigos que trouxeram evidências demonstrando que as técnicas de fortalecimento do assoalho pélvico são estratégias eficientes para manutenção da força muscular reduzindo os sintomas da incontinência urinária em mulheres climatéricas. Para além do tratamento da doença já instalada, o fortalecimento dos músculos da pelve é eficaz também para prevenir o surgimento dos sintomas da IU. Entre os benefícios da intervenção, há destaque para o seu baixo custo e suas técnicas menos invasivas.
Abstract
This integrative review aimed to investigate the evidence available in the literature on the contribution of strengthening the pelvic floor in preventing urinary incontinence during menopause. The review was carried out in the Web Of Science, EMBASE and MEDLINE databases through the Virtual Health Library, indexed from 2018 to 2023. Four articles were included in the review that provided evidence demonstrating that pelvic floor strengthening techniques are efficient strategies for maintaining muscle strength by reducing the symptoms of urinary incontinence in climacteric women. In addition to treating the already established disease, strengthening the pelvic muscles is also effective in preventing the emergence of UI symptoms. Among the benefits of the intervention, its low cost and less invasive techniques stand out.
